iguazu,
Paraguay, Brazil, Argentina
Iguazu is a city divided by a river and three countries. The Paraguay site is like a big shopping center for Brazilian since most of them go over the border to shop. The Brazilian is like any other but with a beautiful waterfall connecting them and Argentina. Argentinian is a tourist city with too many tourist shops. However, it has a good vibe, and it is clean.
Trash and treasure
The city was so trashy at the borders, but it became more appealing the longer you drove in. But still wires everywhere and hanging loose. For dinner, we went to a bar our host recommended called café papa, where they had pool tables. It felt like going into the 90ties, the music was the same, and everything had the vibe. We ordered some Local Pilsners, a pizza burger, a tortilla wrap with fries, and a game of pool, on a crooked pool table. In the evening, we both liked Paraguay. It had such a great atmosphere, and the people were friendly and nice.
Walking from country to country
The next day we only had a couple of hours in Paraguay. They respected the weekend, so there wasn’t much to do. Most of the places were closed. So, we walked by their lake and saw their supermarket, which I always enjoy; you never know what you will find. They had the most extensive collection of mate tea I have seen! Like the cereal lines in a US store, if you’ve been, it’s loco!
Before traveling to Argentina, we went by a guy grilling right on the street, with two coolers and his son helping. Around him were workers from the area, we were sure this would be good, and it was for just four dkk a piece. They were so perfectly roasted and delicious.
Our nationalist, the Brazilian, really loved Paraguay and told us there was much more to come after, so if you have an itch, I’m sure we could have explored more, but we have many countries yet to see.
Wonder waterfall
The Argentinian side of Iguazu had the most awestruck waterfall, Foz de Iguazu. It is one of the 7th new wonders of the earth, and I couldn’t take my eyes off it! The sky was even blue for the whole day. Furthermore, it even had wild monkeys and ring-tailed coatis. It was a fantastic day!
Foodwise, our breakfast was the most boring caramel white bread, strawberry milk, cornflakes, and coffee.. not great. We got a risotto and a burger with too-dense beef Pati for dinner. For lunch, we went to a good place; it had a small pasta factory, the owner words. After we arrived, it got filled with locals, picking up pasta and sauce to cook at home. We had, for starters, empanadas (filled with bread with ham and cheese and one with chicken). For the main course, gnocchi with a 4-cheese sauce and a fettuccini Bolognese. They both tasted beautiful, and for the first, we went away happily, complete with a great taste in our mouths. Yum.
Next, we are off to Salta in Argentina. Talk to you soon!
Cheers and Chao Chao
